Cruise Line: Swan Hellenic Times cruised before: 10+
Cruise Ship: Minerva II Sailed: January, 2007
Destination: South America Age: 65+
We have just returned from a spectacular cruise SECRETS OF THE NEW WORLD we sailed from Lima Peru down the side of Chile through the magnificient Chilean Fjords around Cape Horn onwards to the Falklands around the Falkland through the Straits of Magellan to Punta Arenas Patagonia we have been cruising for 30 years and this cruise ship must rate as one of the best, I only wished we had discovered it sooner, the ports of call and excursions were magnificient, there were 4 dining rooms plus a barbeque area with a very varied choice and the staff were wonderful and the cabins excellent, We do not know what Carnival is thinking when they are letting such a Gem of a company Swan Hellenic slip through there fingers, surely Princess has enough ships without stealing the Minerva II to turn into a duplicate of all the other ships when it is so unique, there were a few tears with passengers when we left some had done over 35 cruises with Swan going back to the original Swan ship, Mr Swan must be turning over in his grave. No one we spoke to could find fault with anything that is apart from Thomas Cooks charter flight enough said.
Quality of Food5
We had 4 meals in the Grill 4 in the Swan Restaurant 2 in the Barbeque and the rest spread between the Dining Room and Bridge which was self service
Entertainment5
The entertainment is slightly different on the Minerva to other cruise ships although there are concerts and dancing and films most people go the the lectures which were excellant
Shore Excursions5
We did not have a least favourite the were all great, from visiting Lauca National Park which is 4,570 metres to one of the highest lakes in the world Lago Chungra to the gentoo and King Penguins at Bluff Cove on the Falklands the rock hopper penguins on West Point Island and Megellanic penguins at a along with the Condor of which we saw 5 at Otway Bay Patagonia
Staff5
I cannot pick out one particular member of staff as they were all excellent
Children's Facilitiesn/a
Onboard Activities5
Plenty of things you could do if you had any energy left after the excursions because a lot of people took hiking excursions
Cabins5
Met our expectations in every way, the Minerva must be one of the quietest ships afloat the engines were barely audible
Overall Rating5
